Step by Step Paddle Cleaning Guide

Get your cleaning supplies ready: You'll need soap, water, a sponge or a soft towel, and access to a sink or a bucket of water.

Brush off the dirt: Wipe off any obvious dirt or debris from your pickleball paddle using a dry cloth or brush. Let's keep things tidy!

Suds it up: Fill a sink or bucket with warm water and add a dab of mild soap. Dish soap, hand soap, car soap, all will work. Don't go overboard with the soap though. Just a bit.

Wet your cleaning tool: Dip your sponge or towel into the soapy solution. Make sure it's nice and wet, but not dripping like a leaky faucet.

Give it a gentle scrub: Use the damp sponge or towel to gently wipe the paddle face. Give it some love with circular motions, removing all that dirt and sweat buildup. Keep the handle dry though. And consider removing edge tape prior to wetting the paddle.

Rinse, rinse, rinse: Once your paddle is clean, rinse it with fresh water to remove any lingering soap suds.

Dry it off: Grab a clean and dry towel and give your paddle a good patting. We're not trying to start a fire here, so be gentle. Get rid of excess moisture, but avoid going crazy and rubbing it hard like you're polishing a lamp. Be gentle on the paddle face and grooves.

Let it air-dry: Set your paddle aside and let it air-dry completely. Avoid putting it in direct sunlight or using a hairdryer. Tip: Don't leave your paddle in your car, either.

Paddle Face Damage Prevention

Keep an eye on your paddle to make sure it's in good condition.

Regularly inspect your paddle for signs of damage, such as cracks, chips, or warping. Use a paddle cover if you can!

If you notice any damage, don't ignore it. Address it by either replacing your paddle or having it repaired by an experienced player. You can use Gorilla Glue or the like on the edges.

If you don't like the idea of your paddle breaking, consider an edgeless paddle. They are known to be among the most durable pickleball paddles on the market.

Protect the Edge

The edge guard is a crucial protection from scratches or chips, but it too can wear down.

This happens when you swing near the ground and it scrapes.

Luckily, there's an easy solution to help extend its lifespan. Protective tape! This is an easy way to prevent damage, probably the most effective and economical action you can take.

All you need to do is measure and cut a strip of tape to the appropriate size, and carefully apply it to the edge guard. Here is our guide on edge guards and care.

Just replace protective tape every week or two. After a while, it will only take you a couple minutes to replace it. Your paddle will thank you!
