The Vatic Pro was a highly awaited pickleball paddle release. We now review their next version, the Prism line. Is it a better paddle? Read on...
[Guide: JOOLA Perseus and Scorpeus Review]
The Vatic Prism paddle line is now out, with the V7 and the Flash models providing two different shapes and feels. Developing players should take a look at these exciting paddles.
It comes after a widespread debut of the initial Vatic Pro line, which you may recognize as the black paddle with orange logo that you often see power players swinging with. Pickleball players such as Spencer Smith play with Vatic on the pro tour.

The initial line of Vatic had its pros and cons, but was mostly heralded as an industry-defining, pro-grade yet cost-effective paddle for all players intermediate and up.
Now, Vatic has a paddle that is even more control-oriented, durable, and costs just $99. We believe the Vatic Pro Prism might be the best paddle under $100. Read on to learn why...

Vatic V7 vs. Flash
The Vatic Prism has two models, the V7 and Flash.
Both paddles will have a nice touch/feel up at the net on soft dinks and touch shots.
However, they differ in that the Flash is a rounder shape, better for blocks and hands. Whereas the V7 is an elongated shape, better for power and offense.
The Flash is great for a patient player who wants to construct long rallies, and keep the ball in play easier and defend blocks at the net. It also has a lower swing weight of 115, so you can move it with ease and have quicker hands.
The Vatic Prism V7 on the other hand is long, and provides a bit more power. It's like a hammer. This is a pro-grade paddle that can rip shots at your highest capable speeds.

Vatic Pro Prism Feel
At the core of the Vatic Prism paddles lie a 16mm polypropylene core, carefully crafted to produce the best control possible out of an inherently power-based build.
This provides a unique combo of responsiveness and softness, offering a nice sensation to players upon contact on the sweet spot. The original Vatic Pro was known as a "poppy" paddle. The Prism line is known for its control and will feel "plush."
The paddle's feel can now be described as cushiony, turning even subtle swing movements into precise shots, especially useful up at the kitchen line.
Surface and Sweet Spot
The surface of the Vatic Prism paddles contain a proprietary UV-coated fiberglass material. This textured surface contributes to its feel, allowing players to impart effortless spin.
Another crucial aspect of the Vatic Prism is its generous sweet spot, aided by foam injection.
Even off-center hits provide decent feedback, minimizing vibrations and offering forgiveness for minor mishits. The Vatic Prism, especially the Flash, will "feel easy" to play with.

What other paddles are comparable to the Vatic line?
Given its build, feel, and price, players may also consider the Ronbus Pulsar as a Vatic comp.
How do "foam-injected walls" affect a pickleball paddle?
The science behind injecting the walls of a paddle with foam is to provide stability and weight along the perimeter of the sweet spot, therefore enlarging it.
A true sweet spot will always differ player to player, but it is largely agreed that injecting foam into the walls is a good way to have consistent feel across the paddle face.
Closing Thoughts
The Vatic Prism line is a godsend to the pickleball marketplace and truly provides a great option for the budget-conscious yet still serious pickleball player.
For one, it's very affordable at $99. You can take a very low risk crack at either option.
